Identify whether each item is a reactant or a product of cellular respiration. glucose carbon dioxide (CO2) water (H2O)
What happens during anaerobic cellular respiration?
During anaerobic cellular respiration, fermentation occurs in the absence of oxygen. In lactic acid fermentation, cells convert pyruvic acid into lactic acid and NADH is recycled back into NAD+. In alcoholic fermentation, pyruvic acid is converted into carbon dioxide and ethyl alcohol. No additional ATP is produced during these fermentation processes beyond what was created during glycolysis.
