Why is osmosis important to the survival of a cell?
Osmosis is important because it helps maintain a stable internal environment (homeostasis) by balancing water and ion concentrations inside and outside the cell. For a cell to survive, these concentrations must remain equal. If ion concentrations inside the cell become too high, water will flow into the cell through osmosis, causing it to swell and potentially burst.
What did you include in your response?
In active transport, molecules are moved across the cell membrane with the help ofneurons.electrical impulses.✔ proteins.inhibitors.
What does it mean if a molecule is moved against the concentration gradient?
Moving a molecule against the concentration gradient means it is being moved from an area of lower concentration to an area of higher concentration. This process requires energy (ATP) because the molecules are moving in the opposite direction of where they would naturally diffuse.
