The picture shows thousands of life-sized terracotta soldiers known as the Terracotta Army, created to guard Emperor Qin Shi Huang in the afterlife. It was discovered in 1974 near Xi'an in Shaanxi province, China. Local farmers discovered the site while digging a well for water on their land.
