Responses may vary but should include some or all of the following information: During the Second Battle of Cabin Creek, General Stand Watie was able to capture a Union supply train with 300 wagons that was en route to Fort Gibson on September 19, 1864. He gave his spoils to the Confederate American Indian refugee camps along the Red River. This was the last major Civil War battle in the Indian Territory because General Robert E. Lee surrendered on April 18, 1865. Watie actually continued his raids of Union supplies until he was forced to surrender on June 23, 1865. This made him the last Confederate general to surrender.
