How are forest fires beneficial to conifers like Jack Pines?

Jack pine cones are often sealed with resin and need the heat of a fire to open. The fire releases the seeds, allowing them to reach the soil and grow. Fires do not protect the seeds or carry the cones on their winds, so “Forest fires release the seeds stored in Jack pine cones” is correct.
