What is Lincoln asking of people in this address?

Lincoln asks the living to dedicate themselves to the unfinished work for which the soldiers at Gettysburg gave their lives. He urges people to ensure that the soldiers’ sacrifice was not in vain and to carry forward the cause of preserving the nation. So he is asking them to carry on the victory and purpose gained by the soldiers, not merely to bury the dead or continue fighting as a specific military instruction.
