The lab activities demonstrated that the movement of Earth’s plates is driven by convection currents in the mantle. I learned that different types of plate boundaries result in different geologic events and structures. For instance, divergent boundaries form new crust, convergent boundaries produce volcanoes and mountains, and transform boundaries cause earthquakes. These processes constantly reshape the Earth’s surface.
