Explain why the offer price is used to calculate the investment in a load mutual fund instead of the net asset value.

Answer:

In a load mutual fund shares are purchased at the offer price which includes the sales commission (load fee). Net asset value does not include this fee so the actual amount paid by the investor is offer price times number of shares.
