Read the passage.Amending the Constitution of the United States is difficult, tedious, and time-consuming. Once an amendment is proposed, two-thirds of both the Senate and the House of Representatives must ratify, or approve, it. Next, three-fourths of the state legislatures must ratify it. Only then will the proposed amendment become law.
