Explain how can you avoid conflict by adjusting your own behavior?
Since conflict is caused by a difference of opinion and the struggle between two views for dominance, if one person simply adjusts to the alternate view and plans accordingly, they eliminate the conflict. For example, if Bill and Karen share office space, and Bill is neat and Karen is slovenly, Bill might clean up just enough to avoid annoying Karen, and Karen might clean only the area that comes close to her workspace.
Discuss the advantages and disadvantages of “agreeing to disagree” over a conflict.
Agreeing to disagree can allow parties to practice tolerance and move on from their disagreement without further conflict, but it can leave the two parties with a hurt relationship and the issue is never solved to anyone’s satisfaction.
Explain what is meant by the phrase “ethical behavior”.
Something is ethical if it does not cause harm and society considers it to be good. Ethical behavior is generally any action that furthers a good outcome for someone else without causing intentional harm to anyone.
Explain why it is important to get along with people in the workplace.
You cannot typically choose who you are going to work with. You must get along with everyone in order to accomplish communal tasks and to show management that you are a person worth retaining and promoting.
Explain the difference between personal traits and interpersonal skills.
Although both sets of qualities are necessary to succeed in the workplace, a personal trait is a part of your character, analogous to your attitude and how you see and interact with the world at large. Interpersonal skills are the behaviors and tools that you actually use to deal with other people. Traits are how you approach things, and skills are what you do to deal with them.
