I saw a snake. At first I thought it was an everyday garter snake. But after I looked at it for a little while, I changed my mind and decided that it was probably a poisonous snake because it had a rattle on its tail. That happened one morning when I was walking.

I was hiking on a crisp, clear autumn morning when a snake came slithering toward me. It’s probably just a garter snake, I thought. As the snake slithered nearer, I spotted a rattle at the tip of its tail. I jumped back with a gasp. The snake was poisonous!
