Read the short speech delivered by the leader of the school’s Service Club.I hope every member of the Service Club will join me in mentoring a third grader from Dunlop Elementary. Nearly one-quarter of the third graders have been identified as being below grade level in reading. As volunteers, we will help these students with their independent reading assignments. We will teach them how to sound out unfamiliar words and learn the meanings of those words. Don’t ignore these struggling readers; an hour of your time will give them the success they deserve.
