Question 3 • FL-1001010-M/J Language Arts 1 A-CR
Jillian read about Arches National Park in a travel brochure. Delicate Arch is a sixty-five-foot-tall freestanding arch found in Moab, Utah. It was originally a large sandstone wall that eroded away over time with water and wind. Delicate Arch is one of Utah’s most well-known landmarks. It is depicted on Utah’s license plate. The Olympic torch relay for the 2002 Winter Olympics ran through the arch. Before it was named Delicate Arch, this landform was called "Cowboy Chaps" by local ranchers.
Answer
A
Delicate Arch was probably called "Cowboy Chaps" because it looks like a pair of pants a cowboy would wear.
B
It was probably very difficult for Olympic runners to pass through Delicate Arch.
C
It is not likely that other natural arches like this are found anywhere else in the world.
D
Arches are perhaps the only landforms made by wind and water.
