Chinese activist Ai Weiwei creates art in various forms, such as sculpture, architecture, and photography. With his work, he has addressed various social issues, including the plight of Chinese citizens under communism. Sunflower Seeds is one of his most well-known works. It is an art installation curated for the Tate Modern in London in 2010. The project includes 100 million tiny pieces of porcelain that have been sculpted to resemble sunflower seeds. The pieces were crafted and hand-painted by 1,600 artisans from China. The "sunflower seeds" were then collected and spread across an enormous, empty hall in the museum. Visitors were encouraged to walk across the floor and step on the seeds, which represented conformity and the oppression of the Chinese people.
